Terms of Hire

Pricing:

All equipment listed on quotes and invoices is priced per day of hire unless otherwise stated, this means if an item is picked up on a Monday, it is priced to be returned on Tuesday at the same time or earlier. For a weekends hire the hirer may collect the items on Friday at any time (or Saturday if they prefer), and drop them off before midday on Monday, a weekend hire is charged at 1 day. For a week’s hire we honour a 10 day theatrical week, I.E. the hirer may collect the items at an arranged time on a Friday, the items must be returned before midday on the following Monday. A weeks hire is charged at 2 days hire. For longer hires please contact us as long term discounts are available.

Payment and Cancelation:

A non-refundable deposit is required on confirmation of work. Payment is due in full on collection or delivery of any equipment. If any orders for equipment are to be changed, at least 72 hours notice must be given before the start of the event. Under special circumstances the time required for notice to be given may be reduced. Failure to notify us, in writing, of any such changes may result in a cancellation fee being charged. Cancellation of a complete order within 72 hours of the hire date will not be accepted and the full fee will be charged.

Functionality, loss and damage:

Items are tested to be fully functional before they leave the warehouse. By accepting the items for hire you are confirming full functionality of the items. Each item is then tested again when it returns to the warehouse and is expected to be fully functional. You as the hirer are fully responsible without exceptions for any items on hire from the time they leave the warehouse to the time they return on the last. You are responsible without exception for the functionality and condition of each item on hire. As the hirer you will be required to pay for all costs incurred for repair or replacement of items on hire should they be faulty or damaged on return. You shall also be responsible for hire of other equipment to fulfil requirements of Tornado Multimedia during the time the damaged equipment is unavailable.

Electrical Provisioning:

Enough electrical power is needed to run items on hire. Some equipment requires a large amount of power. For information on what power items in our hire stock require, consult the data sheets and manuals or contact us for more information. Please be aware that you as the hirer are responsible for ensuring enough power is available on site. You are also responsible for ensuring that the power that is supplied is clean and stable and of the correct voltage. Equipment returned faulty through venue or site power issues is the responsibility of the hirer.

Safety Testing:

All items in hire stock are frequently safety checked. They are checked visually before each hire. However, this does not eliminate the need for a visual check by the hirer before each use of the equipment. It is the hirer's responsibility to ensure equipment is safe before each use. Please note that even if a piece of equipment does not carry a Certification sticker it WILL be on our database. The hirer is welcome to request a PDF or printed copy of the database if necessary but please give 48 hours notice.

Insurance:

For Dry hire purposes, it is the responsibility of the Hirer to have any and all necessary Insurance for the work they undertake Including Public Liability. Tornado Multimedia holds no responsibility for any public liability claims made against the hirer. When hiring larger equipment, rigging equipment and some of the more dangerous equipment in hire stock, Tornado Multimedia reserve the right to request the hirers PLI information and reserve the right to refuse hire if we believe that insufficient PLI is held. This is for the safety of the hirer and the public.

Casing:

Tornado Multimedia cases any equipment where necessary to ensure protection of the equipment and ease of transportation. Contrary to popular belief, casing a particular piece of equipment doesn't mean it is safe to be thrown down a flight of stairs. Please be aware that damage to equipment that is cased is still the full responsibility of the hirer. Additionally, any damage to the case will also incur charges.

Minor Damage:

At Tornado Multimedia, we appreciate that accidents can happen and there are times when a cabinet or case being transported may get a knock or scrape and require a touch up. Our cases are painted regularly and marks to paintwork are not likely to incur charges. However, if a cabinet or case goes out with a new coat of paint and returns looking 40 years old then we may be obliged to charge for a coat of paint. The same principle applies to cases with dents and scratches.
